The Office of Continuity · Lore Base v0.1

The canon register

What is established, what is still being considered, and what is simply Coneposting. An official record with room for uncertainty.

Canon Register v0.1

Three levels of truth

Canon

Official, established material. A change requires an explicit editorial decision and a versioned continuity note.

Semi-Canon

Plausible reports, disputed interpretations and developing details. Semi-Canon may be used in stories but remains subject to change.

Coneposting

Experimental ideas, visual possibilities, jokes and fan interpretations. Repetition does not automatically promote Coneposting into Canon.

Established register

  • C-001 — The universe is fragmented. Worlds, floating islands, suspended cities and territories are connected by Gates and do not consistently obey ordinary reality.
  • C-002 — The Ascension occurred. An attempt to move a cone from a stone platform sent energy across multiple worlds, stabilized many Gates and produced a shared vision of a golden star.
  • C-003 — The Cone guides. The Sacred Cone occupies The Sanctuary in The First Ground. It points; it does not provide answers.
  • C-004 — Higher Ground is a network. It is a political, cultural and logistical civilization rather than a conventional nation or settled empire.
  • C-005 — The King explores. Higher Ground’s unnamed capybara monarch is an astronaut, diplomat and unusually calm explorer. Tea is part of his public conduct.
  • C-006 — The Order observes. The Order of Guidance combines scientific study, philosophy, ritual, bureaucracy, exploration and maintenance.
  • C-007 — The Keepers tend. Small maintenance robots gathered around the Cone without known programming and now maintain The Sanctuary.
  • C-008 — Bread Builds Worlds. Bread Operations, led by the pigeon known as The COO, manages logistics, provisioning, trade, reserves and portal routes.
  • C-009 — Potassium Fuels Progress. The sentient banana known as The Banana directs the Potassium Division and Higher Ground’s technological infrastructure.
  • C-010 — Music Unites Worlds. The octopus known as The Maestro operates The Resonance, which carries culture and communication through the Gates.
  • C-011 — Ancient Gates exist. Some predate The Ascension; their builders are unknown. The stability of most modern Gates appears connected to the Cone.
  • C-012 — The signal repeats. The Sanctuary has detected the words HIGHER GROUND EXISTS from beyond the known universe.
  • C-013 — The symbol predates the record. Ancient, unconnected civilizations recorded a vertical form, an orbit and a star long before the known history of the Cone.
  • C-014 — Nobody owns the answer. No character, institution or narrator can establish the Cone’s ultimate origin or purpose.

The first supplied image, catalogued as The First Observance, remains the principal visual authority. Later artworks are identity studies, field interpretations or possible futures according to their catalogue status. Text embedded in generated concept art is not automatically Canon.

Deliberately unresolved

Who found the Cone? Where did The Ascension occur? Did the Keepers awaken, remember or merely resume an instruction? Who built the ancient Gates? Who transmits the signal? What would happen if the Cone stopped working?

These questions create story space. They do not promise a final mechanical explanation.

Continuity rules

  1. Never completely explain the Cone.
  2. Treat the absurd seriously inside the world.
  3. Let humour and consequence coexist.
  4. Keep the cosmology open to expansion.
  5. Treat Higher Ground as an idea as well as a civilization: direction, hope, exploration, progress and the possibility of change.
  6. The Cone does not speak directly. Any apparent communication must remain ambiguous.

  • Good Tea. Better Decisions.
